Four from Lafayette Earn National Kudos for Writing

Four talented students from Lafayette High School received national-level honors in the 2025-26 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. This contest is the country’s longest-running, most prestigious recognition initiative for creative students (grades 7-12) and the largest source of scholarships for young artists and writers.

Congratulations to our Lafayette honorees in the writing division! 

  • Lillian Mendiondo – gold medal and American Voices Award for “Family History and Conjugation” in the Personal Essay & Memoir category
  • Judah Rice – gold medal for “Solar Resuscitation Among Other Miracles” in Short Story
  • Rylie Humphress – silver medal for “Why the Sky Might Not Be Blue (& Other Truths) in Portfolio
