Lafayette Student Wins 6th District Art Contest
Congressman Andy Barr and Jiya Sheth
The 6th District winner of the 2026 Congressional Art Competition is Jiya Sheth, a sophomore at Lafayette High School. Her painting, “View of McConnell Springs,” will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.
Three others from Fayette County Public Schools also entered the contest, which was coordinated by U.S. Rep. Andy Barr’s office: Naelee Hagen and Sydney Jeffries, both of Bryan Station High; and HaiWen Shi of Lafayette.
The students, their families, and their art teachers were invited to a local reception with Barr. Jiya is also invited to a June reception in Washington, D.C., where young artists from across the country will be celebrated.
